to evaluate action of subscleral adipocytes implantation in establishing a gradient of bFGF in the retinal tissue
we perform the surgical procedure in 16 mice affected by atrophic age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Controlater eye served as control.
examinations were performed every 1, 3, 6, 12 and 18 months from surgery and an increase of retinal trophism resulted. Intra-operative or postoperative complications did not occurr.
subscleral adipocytes implantation could affect retinal and vitreal levels of bFGF. Further studies should be performed for degenerative pathologies charachterized by retinal cells apoptosis.
