Abstract

Purpose: : To investigate the anatomic and visual outcomes in phakic patients with initial anatomic success after macular hole surgery with a mean of 3 years of follow-up.Background: High anatomic success rates have been attributed to macular hole surgery. However, most of the published studies have reported mean postoperative follow-up intervals of one year or less. The aim of our study was to evaluate long-term visual outcome and postoperative events that could influence it such as retinal detachment, reopening of the macular hole.

Keywords: macular holes • vitreoretinal surgery • clinical (human) or epidemiologic studies: outcomes/complications
