Abstract
The morphologic appearance of retinal lesions induced by 325 nm radiation from a helium cadmium laser is described. The damage is limited primarily to the outer retinal layers with only minimal or moderate retinal pigment epithelial changes. The lowest radiant exposure to produce a light microscopic lesion was 0.15 J/cm2, which is about a factor of two below the ophthalmoscopic threshold.
