Antibodies included: polyclonal antibody to HNE (1:1000; Axxora-USA, San Diego, CA), HO-1 polyclonal antibody (1:5000; Stressgen Bioreagents, San Diego, CA), anti-actin mouse monoclonal antibody (1:3000; Calbiochem, La Jolla, CA), goat anti-mouse IgM for actin antibody (1:2000; Calbiochem), HNE chemical (Cayman Chemical, Ann Arbor, MI), horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody (1:2000; Bio-Rad, Hercules, CA), and fluorescence labeled goat anti-rabbit IgG antibody (1:200; Molecular Probes, Eugene, OR). Also used were polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) membrane (Hybond-P; Amersham Biosciences, Pittsburgh, PA), and Western blotting detection reagent (ECL Plus; Amersham Biosciences).
