Abstract
Purpose:
To investigate, in healthy and normal tension glaucoma group, the diurnal change of the corneal biomechanical properties as measured with the Ocular
Response Analyzer(ORA)
Methods:
To one eye of each of 28 healty subjects(11 men, 17 womes) and normal tension glaucoma(15 men, 22 womens) was measured corneal biomechanical properties and intraocualar pressure at 3 hour interval for 48 hours with the ORA.
Results:
Average diurnal fluctuation of Intraocular pressure by ORA is IOPg 7.29±2.83 mmHg, IOPcc 7.69±2.91 mHg in NTG group and IOPg 5.68±2.18 mmHg, IOPcc 7.17 ± 4.01 mmHg in Normal group. Also, Diurnal variation of CRF and CH in NTG group is 11.90± 1.23 mmHg, 12.10 ± 1.28 mmHg, 12.07± 1.56mmHg, 12.06± 1.71mmHg in Normal group. However, measurements of IOPcc, CRF, CH was no statistically significant variation was noted(p>0.05), only IOPg was statistically significant variation (p<0.05). Both glaucoma group and normal gorup, peak IOP occurred at 6am and the trough IOP at 9pm-0am.
Conclusions:
In glaucoma group, measurement of IOPcc and IOPg during the 24-hour
period was wider than age-matched normal group. And, corneal hysteresis measured by ORA were almost constant throughout the day in both group. And, difference in mean CH and CRF measured by ORA in NTG group at any of measurement time was lower than normal group, CRF was statistically lower than normal group(p<0.05). Both glaucoma group and normal gorup, there is no difference of peak IOP time at 6am and trough IOP time at 9pm-0am
