Abstract

Purpose: : First year results after implantation of angle supported phakic AcrySof Cachet IOL to correct moderate to high myopia.

Methods: : This retrospective study enrolled 72 myopic eyes in which the phakic AcrySof Cachet IOL were implanted by the same surgeon (T.K.). Pre- and postoperative the endothelium cell loss, intraocular eye pressure and visual acuity (BCVA) were compared.

Results: : The mean MSRE reduced significantly from -9.06 D + 2.51 to -0.15 + 0.42 at one month and to -0.12 + 0.36 after the first year (p<0.05). Only two percent of the patients lost one line of visual acuity, 44% gained one and 11% two lines. The aimed correction of + 0.5 D MSRE was reached by 84% of the patients (100% within +1.0 D). The mean percentage of endothelial cell loss was 2.3% after one year. Intraocular eye pressure showed no significantly difference from preoperatively to one year after surgery.

Conclusions: : The angle supported AcrySof Cachet IOL is an efficient and safe device to correct moderate to high myopia. It provids excellent visual performance and stable endothelial cell counts.
