Abstract

Purpose: : To test and investigate the effectiveness of the myopia correction and presbyopia compensation with the Zeiss Visumax Femtosecond laser and to compare the outcomes with PRK equivalent refractive treatment.

Methods: : Visumax Femtosecond laser, MEL80 Excimer laser, Wasca Aberrometer equipped with CRS-Master software and DSA (Dynamic Stimulation Aberrometry). Refractive treatments according to the Bartoli/Zeiss method for presbyopia compensation.

Results: : 25 eyes of 13 patients between 44 and 60 years old were treated. The average pre-op manifest refraction was - 5.28 dpt and the average near addition was 1.65 dpt. The post-op average UCVA is 0.88 dpt and the binocular near UCVA is 1.26 Jaeger.

Conclusions: : The results are slightly better than the results of the similar approach with PRK but it seems that the stability over time is better. The Femtosecond laser technique can deliver good results since the very first treatments.
