Purpose:
To report the presence of Atrophic Macular Degeneration in Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy clinical cases
Methods:
This is a retrospective case series of 12 patients(24 eyes) with Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy from a photographic database to investigate the ocurrence of Atrophic Macular Degeneration in these cases. The patients were submitted to Fluorescein Angiography, Indocyanine Greeen Angiography, Fundus Autofluorescence and Spectral Domain OCT. All patients had Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy diagnosticated before the study.
Results:
We found 2 eyes from 1 patient(1 out 12) with Atrophic Macular Degeneration associated with Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy. The signals of the presence of atrophic macular degeneration were drussen and RPE anormalities or geographic atrophy.
Conclusions:
Atrophic Macular Degeneration is a unusual association with Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy cases. This finding can be a rare finding more than part of the spectrum of this disease.
