Abstract

Purpose: : Evaluate the better culture medium to induce human Immature Dental Pulp Stem Cells (hIDPSC)to differentiate into corneal epithelium cells.

Methods: : hIDPSC were isolated and characterized according to Kerkis et al. (2006). It were selected four cultures media: Epilife, Knockout DMEM, KSFM and SHEM. All the cultures were mantained per 7 days, and the media were changed every day. For each specific culture medium tested were made in triplicate. After 7 days the samples were fixed and prepared for immunocitochemistry analysis. To confirm the differentiation of hIDPSC we used K3/12 .

Results: : Our data showed that samples cultivated with Knockout DMEM and SHEM reacted positively to K3/12, indicating that the cells were able to differentiate into corneal epithelium cells in 7 days. The hIDPSC cultivated in Epilife and KSFM media didn't show positive reaction .

Conclusions: : According to our data the Knockout DMEM and SHEM media were better than Epilife and KSFM for inducing differentiation into corneal epithelium cells.
