Abstract
Purpose: :
The study was conducted as a retrospective evaluation of patient outcomes following Tecnis Multifocal (TMF) or ReSTOR+3 ADD intraocular lens implants post phacoemulsification.
Methods: :
Patients that received a TMF intraocular lens implant (models ZMA00 and ZMB00) or ReSTOR SN60D1 in one or both eyes were evaluated. Outcome measures included UCVA, BCVA and Bilateral: near, intermediate and distance visual acuities.
Results: :
141 eyes implanted with TMF and 89 eyes implanted with ReSTOR intraocular lenses were evaluated. The mean patient age of TMF and ReSTOR patients was 66 and 71years old respectively. 67 males and 78 females received TMF lenses, and 29 males and 60 females received ReSTOR lenses. Postoperatively, 51 % of patients implanted with TMF lens achieved a UCDVA of 20/25 and 77% achieved UCDVA of 20/30 or better. 49% of ReSTOR patients achieved a UCDVA of 20/25 and 77% achieved a UCDVA of 20/30 or better. 44% of TMF patients achieved a UCIVA of 20/25 and 61% achieved 20/30 or better. 22% of ReSTOR patients achieved 20/25 UCIVA and 33% achieved 20/30 or better. 78% and 92% of TMF patients achieved UCNVA of 20/25 and 20/30 or better, respectively. 66% and 80% of ReSTOR patients achieved UCNVA of 20/25 and 20/30 or better, respectively.
Conclusions: :
Tecnis Multifocal and ReSTOR +3 intraocular lenses provide excellent visual results for uncorrected visual acuity at distance, intermediate, and near vision.
