The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 7 (MMP-7) in retinoblastoma tissue.
To determine the localization of MMP-7, immunohistochemistry was performed on mouse retinoblastoma tissues of SNUOT-Rb1 and Y79. TrkA and TrkB were used as a differentiation marker and a proliferation marker respectively.
MMP-7 was found to be co-localized with TrkA rather than TrkB, but the pattern of expression was slightly different. TrkA was more strongly expressed where nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio (NC ratio) was high, but MMP-7 was more strongly expressed where NC ratio was low. The certain part of SNUOT-Rb1 tissue was showing strong expression of MMP-7 with relatively weak expression of TrkA.
The expression of MMP-7 is closely related to differentiation, but the patterns are different between tissues with different cell lines.
