Abstract

Purpose: : To evaluate patient outcomes with Tecnis Multifocal Intraocular Lenses (IOLs) following phacoemulsifaction.

Methods: : 121 eyes of 76 patients that received a Tecnis Multifocal IOL (models ZMA00 and ZMB00) in one or both eyes were evaluated. Outcome measures included UCVA at near, intermediate, and distance and BCVA.

Results: : The mean patient age was 66, and 45.5% were male. 51.0% of eyes achieved 20/25 or better UCVA for distance, 37.8% of eyes achieved 20/25 or better uncorrected intermediate vision, and 68.18% of eyes achieved 20/25 or better near visual acuity. Five eyes had previous laser vision correction, 6 eyes had limbal relaxing incisions (LRI) placed during surgery, 15 had YAG laser capsulotomy, and 11 had laser vision correction enhancement postoperatively.

Conclusions: : These findings suggest that Tecnis Multifocal IOLs provide optimal visual outcomes at near, intermediate, and distance.
