Abstract
Purpose: :
To evaluate outcomes with a unilateral Tecnis Multifocal Intraocular Lens post phacoemulsification.
Methods: :
Eyes with a unilateral Tecnis Multifocal Intraocular implant models ZMA00 and ZMB00 were retrospectively evaluated. Post-operative measurements included UCVA near, intermediate, and distance, and BCVA. It was also noted whether the patient had YAG laser capsulotomy post-Op and/or Laser Vision Correction enhancement. A questionnaire was provided to assess patient satisfaction
Results: :
31 eyes of 31 patients were evaluated. The contralateral eye was phakic in 60%, pseudophakic with a monofocal implant in 26.7% and pseudophakic with a presbyopic IOL in 13.3%. The average age was 60.5 years, and 46.7% were male. One patient had previous laser vision correction, 3 eyes had LRI during surgery, 2 had YAG laser capsulotomy post-operatively, and 2 had laser vision correction enhancement post-operatively. 53.3% of eyes achieved 20/25 or better UCVA for distance, 60.0% of eyes achieved 20/30 or better uncorrected intermediate vision, and 76.6% of eyes achieved 20/25 or better near visual acuity. Overall, patients reported that they were satisfied with their vision in the eye with the Presbyopic IOL
Conclusions: :
From the outcomes observed in patients, Tecnis Multifocal lenses appear to provide satisfactory outcomes in unilateral cataract cases.
