Abstract

Purpose: : To evaluate the therapeutic effect of intravitreal methotrexate in patients with exudative age related macular degeneration refractory to anti-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and corticosteroids.

Methods: : Two male patients (Ages 74 and 89) with exudative age related macular degeneration were given 400 microgram per 0.1 cc intravitreal methotrexate (IV-MTX)

Results: : Resolution of subretinal fluid was observed in both patients demonstrated by ocular coherence tomography (OCT) at day 15.
