Abstract
Purpose: :
To test the repeatability of the high definition wavefront aberrometer COAS-HDTM Model 2800 (Advanced Medical Optics) to test accommodation, measured as refractive change, in young and presbyopic phakic subjects.
Methods: :
Prospective enrollment of 10 young phakic adults and 10 phakic presbyopic subjects. Accommodation was evaluated with a wavefront aberrometer recording measurements at 30 Hz. Patients were simulated with a dynamically controllable near target to simultaneously measure both the refraction and high order aberrations. True optical power change can be identified and compared and contrasted with depth of focus, or changes caused by aberrations or pupil size.
Results: :
Measurements of young subjects’ accommodation trended favorably with published results. The presbyopic subjects measured by the aberrometer showed little to no accommodation and fell along the accommodation age curve as expected.
