Abstract

Purpose: : In order to improve the quality of retinal image,

Methods: : an adaptive optics (AO) system with a liquid crystal (LC) spatial light modulator (SLM) and its application on the spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is described. The AO system uses LC SLM as the corrector to compensate large ocular aberrations of the subject’s eye, and was combined with the retinal imaging OCT.

Results: : Based on this system, a clear retinal image with high lateral resolution was obtained.

Conclusions: : The result suggests that LC SLM can effectively correct the wavefront error of eye, and the LC based AO has potentially application on the OCT system for retinal imaging.
