Abstract

Purpose: : To evaluate the accuracy of flap centration using VisuMax® femtosecond laser

Methods: : In a retrospective study, the amount of flap decentration from pupil center and visual axis was analyzed in 83 eyes of 43 patients. Intraoperative image overlaid with corneal topography was used for vector analysis of flap decentration. Further evaluation with Pentacam was done to measure the horizontal decentration from pupil center.

Results: : The flap decentration from pupil center and visual axis were 506±187 um and 380±213 um, respectively. And more than half of flaps were decentered toward the right and inferior direction (surgeon’s view). Pentacam analysis showed 317±293 um of flap decentration.

Conclusions: : The analysis of flap decentration has been rarely documented in previous studies, despite its importance in the quality of postoperative visual function. Flap formation using VisuMax® femtosecond laser was well centered to pupil center as well as visual axis.
