Purpose:
To compare the Swedish Interactive Threshold Algorithm (SITA)with the Full Threshold strategy in Short Wavelength AutomatedPerimetry (SWAP).
Methods:
A total of 20 healthy individuals (20 eyes) and 20 glaucomapatients (20 eyes) were included in this prospective study. All participants underwent SWAP testing (Humphrey II-750, CarlZeiss Meditec) in two different sessions on different days.In each session, one SITA and one Full Threshold exams wereperformed in a random sequence. The SITA and Full Thresholdexams of the last session were compared.
Results:
The mean (SD) test duration of SITA and Full Threshold was 3.9(0.9) minutes and 11.7 (1.7) minutes (mean difference: 7.8 minutes;95% confidence interval: 7.2 to 8.4 minutes; P < 0.001).The agreement between SITA and Full Threshold strategies onfovea sensitivity and global indices was moderate (Table 1).The agreement between the two strategies on Glaucoma HemifieldTest results was also moderate (Table 2).
Conclusions:
The test duration with SITA strategy was about one third ofthe Full Threshold. SITA and Full Threshold SWAP showed moderateagreement. The results of these two strategies should not beused interchangeably.
