Abstract

Purpose:: To report the 12-month results for patients treated with combined photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin and intravitreal bevacizumab for choroidal neovascularization secondary to age related macular degeneration (AMD).

Methods:: This is a retrospective review of 24 treatment naïve eyes that received intravitreal bevacizumab and PDT with verteporfin within a 14 day interval.

Results:: Main outcome measures will be visual acuity stabilization (defined as no change in visual acuity or a gain in visual acuity) and retreatment rate.

Conclusions:: The results of this study will be helpful in defining what future role combination therapy may play in the treatment of neovascular AMD.Data will be available in January 2007.
