Abstract
Purpose: :
We aimed to analyze the effect of ocular aberrations –assessed with ray tracing tracing and dynamic skiascopy – on multifocal ERG to determine if there were any contribution with ocular aberrations and multifocal ERG values.
Methods: :
Ocular wavefront aberrations of 40 eyes of 20 healthy volunteer were measured with I–TraceTM and NIDEK OPD–scanTM and multifocal ERG values of same eyes were measured at the same room conditions with The Roland Consult ‘Retiport’ Total SystemTM based on the ISCEV standards.
Results: :
We determined significant negative correlation between total wavefront values with both wavefront analyzing system and multifocal ERG. There were also negative correlation between total ocular aberrations and total mfpERG (P<0.05 and adjR2 over 0.85).
Conclusions: :
This study has shown that there are negative correlations with ocular aberration and multifocal and ERG values has shown with both ray tracing and dynamic skiascopy. We might need to review our standards for electrophysiological testing based on the wavefront aberrations of eye.
