Abstract

Purpose: : In previous report, the results of proteomics analysis of DBA2/J mouse, glaucoma model mouse, retina showed that the expressions of Integrinß7 in seven months age were decreased less than five months . So, we intend to investigate the molecular and biological function of Integrinß7 on retinal ganglion cells.

Methods: : Immunohistochemistry procedure was performed in C57BL mice retina to examine the localization of Integrinß7. RNA knock down of Integrinß7 was also performed on retinal cells with or without glutamate treatment, and analyzed the cell biological changes.

Results: : Integrinß7 were endogeneously expressed in inner layer of retina, and especially, strongly expressed in retinal ganglion cell layer. Retinal cell death induced by glutamate was inhibited by RNA knock down of Integrinß7.

Conclusions: : Integrinß7 may play an important role on retinal ganglion cell death in glaucoma.
