Abstract

Purpose: : To report the effects (safety and tolerance) of Bevacizumab injection (Avastin, Genetec. Inc) in rabbits anterior chamber and report changes of endothelial cells.

Methods: : Four eyes of four rabbits were injected with Bevacizumab via corneal at different concentrations (0.1 and 0.2 ml); all of them presented Bevacizumab in the anterior chamber immediately after the procedure. The eyes were evaluated with specular microscopy at the first and 7th day after injection.

Results: : All rabbits maintained corneal transparency in every control. Specular microscopy showed no change in the count of endothelial cell and in cell form.

Conclusions: : Bevacizumab does not present a toxic effect over the corneal endothelial cells.
