Abstract

Purpose: : Single centre, retrospective trial with a follow up of two years aiming at clinical advantages, efficacy and safety of Diode Laser as treatment of retinal tears.

Methods: : 26 eyes with retinal tears associated with lattice degeneration, PVD, atrophic holes and localized retinal detatchment underwent Transpupillary diode laser photocoagulation. Patients were followed up to two years.

Results: : 24 out of 26 eyes showed successful choriretinal adhesions. Failure was seen in tears associated with localized retinal detatchment with posterior vitreous detatchment.

Conclusions: : Diode laser effectively produces retinopexy suitable for treatment of retinal tears not associated with localised tractional retinal detatchment.
