Abstract
Purpose: :
To study change in anterior chamber biometry in children before and after pupil dilation using Ultrasound Biomicroscopy(UBM).
Methods: :
Anterior chamber depth (ACD) and trabecular iris angle(TIA) were measured using UBM in 21 children before and after pupil dilation with tropicamide under a general anesthetic. Children with a history of glaucoma or previous intra–ocular surgery were excluded.
Results: :
Mean age of children was 6.6±3.3 years. Mean refractive error expressed as spherical equivalent was +0.05±1.87 diopters. The mean ACD before and after pupil dilation was 2.95±0.22 mm and 3.06±0.23 mm respectively (p= 0.999 ). The mean TIA before and after pupil dilation was 34.13±3.4 degrees and 34.18±3.7 degrees respectively (p= 0.517).
Conclusions: :
In our study, ACD and TIA were not changed before and after pupil dilation in children.
