Abstract: : Purpose: We describe the occurrence of bilateral Salzmann's–like nodular degeneration resulting after LASIK in two patients. These patients described are believed to be the first reports of such findings. Methods: Observational case reports. Results: Two females were referred to Cornea clinic for evaluation of multiple bilateral nodular lesions situated at the site of LASIK flap margins. Lesions were raised and blueish–white in appearance resulting in ocular surface irritation and induction of irregular astigmatism on corneal topography with associated loss of best corrected visual acuity. Both patients underwent LASIK within a year prior to the occurence of such lesions. Neither patient had a significant past medical history, yet both described a past ocular history significant for keratoconjunctivitis sicca and resultant contact lens intolerance. Neither patient admitted to regular use of ocular lubrication following LASIK. Both patients enjoyed symptom resolution with an aggressive regimen of topical lubricants. Neither patient opted for lesion removal for histopathological confirmation or visual rehabilitation. Based upon the classic appearance, location and symptoms of the lesions the diagnosis of Salzmann's–like Corneal Nodular Degeneration was applied to this process. Conclusions: Although Salzmann's Nodular Degeneration was first reported 1925 we believe these to be the first case reports of this process occuring secondary to LASIK.
