Abstract
Abstract: :
Purpose: To quantatively analyze images obtained from the PANORET–1000 high–resolution wide angle digital retinal camera system in assessing the size and growth of ocular tumors. Methods: Dilated fundus photos taken of patients with known ocular tumors. The images are digitally analyzed to quantify the dimensions and area of the tumors. These dimensions are also directly compared to those of the tumor found on ultrasound as well as to intra–operative findings. Results: Representative photos as well as an evaluation of the distortion of lesion appearance as a function of angular distance from the optic nerve are presented. Conclusions: The PANORET–1000 imaging system represents a useful adjunct to clinical exam in the management of retinal abnormalities but interpretation benefits from consideration of optical artifacts.
