Abstract

Abstract: : Purpose: To report the first case of a unilateral optic disc cyst, in an asymptomatic adult. Methods: Case presentation . Results: Investigations including imaging and angiography, clearly demonstrated a well-defined cystic lesion emanating from the left optic nerve head of a 29-year-old Caucasian female. Optic nerve function was normal. Conclusion: Cysts of the Optic nerve have been previously described. This, however, is the first reported case of a congenital optic disc cyst in an asymptomatic patient. It is one manifestation in the broad spectrum of optic disc anomalies.
