Abstract

Abstract: : Purpose:To study the influence of meteorological parameters on epithelial wound healing after PRK. Methods: The study comprised 453 eyes of 269 patients treated by PRK in same conditions of laser excimer procedure, postoperative treatment (contact lens, corticosteroids). We analysed epithelial wound healing at day 3 and 4, haze at 1 and 3 months, atmospheric pressure, minimal and maximal ambient temperature and humidity for each patient according to housing conditions area. Results: Complete epithelial wound healing was observed for 327 eyes (73.65%) at day 3. Low temperature and high atmospheric pressure were highly correlated with fast wound healing (p<0.001). Conclusions: Among numerous factors influencing epithelial wound healing and final result after PRK, meteorological parameters should be known before laser excimer intervention.
