Abstract
Purpose :
To investigate the effect of phacoemulsification combined with viscogoniosynechialysis on the intraocular pressure of patients with refractory acute angle-closure glaucoma
Methods :
This is a retrospective study. The medical chart of patients with refractory acute angle-closure glaucoma who received phacoemulsification combined with viscogoniosynechialysis were reviewed. Success control of glaucoma was defined as IOP less than 21 mmHg without any anti-glaucoma drug.
Results :
totally 32 eyes of 31 patients were recruited. The average age was 64.72±9.39 years. Mean preoperative IOP was 36.09±10.22mmHg. Mean postoperative IOP was 15.92 ±7.73 mmHg at1 month, 13.53±4.23mmHg at 3 months, 13.93±3.63mmHg at 6months and 15.06±7.04mmHg at one year . The rate of success control of glaucoma was 81.25% at 1 month, 78.13% at 3 months, 78.13% at 6 months, and 71.88% at 1 year respectively.
Conclusions :
phacoemulsification combined with viscogoniosynechialysis is effective for the control of IOP in patients with refractory acute angle-closure glaucoma.
