To evaluate the reproducibility of Superficial and Deep Vascular Complex vessel density (SVC-VD and DVC-VD) of 6mm HD Angio Retina scans, and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters of 3mm Angio Retina scans (Picture 1) in 3 patient groups.
Following IRB approval, up to 3 repeats of 3mm and 6mm HD Angio Retina scans were acquired on 3 different XR Avanti with AngioVue® devices (up to 9 scans per scan type per eye). One eye per patient for 15 normal (N), 16 glaucoma (G), and 12 diabetic retinopathy (DR) eyes were included. N group was distributed by age (range 19-84 years old); G group included early to advanced disease (visual field MD range -0.32 to -25.79 dB); DR eyes with DME (9 eye) and without (3 eyes), and various DR severity were included.SVC-VD and DVC-VD was evaluated for Whole Image (WI) and Superior and Inferior Hemifield (WI-SHemi and WI-IHemi) of 6mm HD Angio Retina scan. FAZ parameters included FAZ area (FAZ-A) and vessel density within 300µm width peri-FAZ ring (FD) of the 3mm Angio Retina scan (Picture1).For a given study parameter, the mean measurement value and standard deviation value of the 9 scans was computed for each study eye. Then the average of the mean measurement values and standard deviation values among the subjects for each study group were computed. Standard two-sample t-test was performed to test the statistical significance of the difference between a patient group (G or DR) and the normal (N) group (Table 1B).
Reproducibility of all evaluated parameters is shown in Table 1A.Statistically significant difference of means was found for SVC and DVC vessel density in G vs N, and in DR vs N group, without significant difference in reproducibility except for SVC-VD of the DR vs N group (Table 1B).FAZ parameters reproducibility was not significantly different between G vs N, and DR vs N, however FD difference of the means was significant in DR vs N group (Table 1B).
In our sample population, all evaluated parameters were highly reproducible in three study groups.SVC and DVC vessel density is lower in DR and G than in N group. Foveal vessel density is lower in DR than in N group, and similar in G vs N group. FAZ area is not significantly different in DR and G vs N group.Reproducibility of vessel density and FAZ measurements is similar in N, G and DR groups, except variability is lower for SVC-VD in DR group.
