Abstract

Presentation Description : This presentation will explore the analogy between the processes of photoreceptor disc morphogenesis and formation of ciliary ectosomes. It will highlight new findings related to the role of actin cytoskeleton in initiating disc formation and discuss an interesting phenotype of the knockout of the protein, called PRCD, in which photoreceptor outer segments produce both discs and ectosomes.

This abstract was presented at the 2019 ARVO Annual Meeting, held in Vancouver, Canada, April 28 - May 2, 2019.
