Abstract

Presentation Description : The electroretinographic (ERG) responses driven by a single photoreceptor type (rods or a single cone type) obtained from human observers and from mice are described and compared. Responses to sinusoidal rod and cone isolating stimuli at different temporal frequencies give information about temporal ERG characteristics. Step-wise increases and decreases of the excitation of single photoreceptor types are used to describe On- and Off-ERGs driven by the different photoreceptors. The comparison of the ERGs to these stimuli in the two species, give information about the similarities and differences in post-receptoral pathways. This information is important for transferring the ERG data obtained in mice to humans.

This abstract was presented at the 2019 ARVO Annual Meeting, held in Vancouver, Canada, April 28 - May 2, 2019.
