Abstract
Purpose :
To assess the visual quality in patients had high-myopia cataract surgery to implant a multifocal intraocular lens, trifocal intraocular lens, and extended depth-of-focus intraocular lens
Methods :
Retrospective analysis. From January 2016 to June 2018, 28 cases of cataract with high myopia from our hospital were accepted to the study. The total cases comprised of 12 eyes from 11 females and 16 eyes from 9 males. Subjects’average age ranged from 36 to 62 years old. The patients were divided into 3 groups: multifocal intraocular lens (Tecnis ZMB00, AMO) with 12 eyes, trifocal intraocular lens (AT Lisa tri839 MP, ZEIZZ) with 8 eyes, and extended depth-of-focus intraocular lens (Tecnis Symfony, AMO) with 8 eyes. At 3 months after operation, the following parameters of the groups were assessed: uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), and analyzed wavefront aberration, point spread function(PSF)strehl ratio, total high-order aberration (t-HOA), and Zernike coefficient for spherical aberration (Z40) for the 4mm optical zone using the OPD-SCAN III aberrometer. Results were analysed by SPSS 17.0. Data were expressed as mean standard deviation (x±S).
Results :
(1) At 3 months after the operation, the visual quality of three groups was better than before . Among the three groups, UCDVA demonstrated no statistical significance (P=0.08,P=0.09). Groups A , B of UCNVA were better than Group C (p=0.045). The UIVA of groups B, C was better than Group A’s (p=0.043). (2) The spherical aberration among the three groups showed statistical significance (p<0.05). The strehl ratio in groups A, B, and C was (0.013±0.00),(0.027±0.00), and (0.017±0.00), respectively (p=0.02). The t-HOA in groups A, B, and C was (0.536±0.02),(1.263±0.02), and (0.966±0.13), respectively,Regarding the t-HOA among the three groups, there was no statistical significance (p=0.10, p=0.12). Z40 in groups A, B, and C was (0.025±0.00),(0.027±0.00), (0.042±0.00), respectively. The Z40 value difference between group A and group C was statistically significant (p=0.03). Group B and group C were statistically significant (p=0.03), whereas the difference between group A and group B showed no statistical significance (p=0.16).
Conclusions :
The trifocal intraocular lens is more suitable for cataracts in high-myopia patients than others
