Abstract
Purpose :
To compare the results of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) guided PDT with Indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) guided photodynamic therapy (PDT) for acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).
Methods :
This study is a prospective, single-center, non-inferiority, double-masked, randomized, controlled clinical trial. 46 eyes of 40 patients with acute CSC were recruited, and randomized to ICGA-guided group and OCTA-guided group. The main outcomes were complete subretinal fluid (SRF) resolution rate at 1 month and 3 months.
Results :
In the OCTA-guided group, the SRF disappeared in 13 (56.5%) eyes within one month and 21 (91.3%) eyes within 3 months. In the ICGA-guided group, the SRF disappeared in 16 (69.6%) of the eyes within one month and in 22 (95.7%) of the eyes within 3 months. OCTA-guided PDT was demonstrated non-inferiority to ICGA-guided PDT for SRF resolution rate at 3 months but not at 1 month for acute CSC patients. SRF reappeared in none of the eyes in the ICGA-guided group and in 2 eyes (8.7%) of the ICGA-guided group within 3 months follow-up.
Conclusions :
Our study demonstrated that OCTA-guided PDT was demonstrated non-inferiority to ICGA-guided PDT for acute CSC patients at 3 months follow-up.
