24-2C is a new SITA test pattern that adds 10 central test points common to the 10-2 pattern to the traditional 24-2 field. The diagnostic performance of the SITA Faster 24-2C test pattern is comparable to the test locations common to the 24-2 SITA Fast and 10-2 patterns. Test times for legacy SITA strategies (Standard, Fast and Faster) have been previously compared. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the test times of SITA Faster 24-2C (SFR-C) compared with legacy SITA strategies.
24-2 SITA Standard (SS), 24-2 SITA Fast (SF24), 10-2 SITA Fast (SF10), and SFR-C visual fields (VFs) were acquired on an HFA3 Model 860 perimeter (ZEISS, Dublin, CA) at each of two visits on one eye of a group of 25 normal and 25 glaucomatous subjects. The last qualified test for each VF was used for data analyses. 24-2 SITA Faster (SFR) VFs and test times were extracted from SFR-C. SFR-C test times were compared to the test times of SS, SF24, SF10, and SFR.
Median Mean Deviation (MD)SS was 0.65 (IQR: 1.3; range: -2.76 to 2.28) dB and -1.81 (IQR: 2.68; range: -21.77 to 1.61) dB in normal and glaucomatous eyes, respectively. Mean ± SD, range of test times, and percent time improvements are summarized in Table 1. In normal and glaucomatous eyes, respectively, SFR was 61.6% and 58.2% faster than SS, 35.8% and 32.6% faster than SF24, and 18.5% and 17.5% faster than SFR-C. Similarly, SFR-C was 21.2% and 18.3% faster than SF24 in normal and glaucomatous eyes, respectively. Figure 1 shows the durations versus MD values for each test strategy.
SFR-C combines 10 central test points from the 10-2 pattern with a 24-2 field and still has a faster test duration than the SF24 or SF10. 24-2C SITA Faster may provide a reasonable clinical alternative to current threshold strategies for the diagnosis of glaucoma.
