Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM), fetal bovine serum (FBS), penicillin, and gentamicin were purchased from Hyclone Laboratories, Inc. (Logan, UT, USA). Recombinant human interleukin (IL)-1β and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits for IL-6 and IL-8 were purchased from R&D Systems (Minneapolis, MN, USA), and that for MCP-1 from R&D Systems (Abingdon, United Kingdom). Antiperoxisome proliferator activator γ (PPARγ), anti–CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein (C/EBP)α, anti-C/EBPβ, anti-lamin A/C, anti–β-actin antibodies, and anti–nuclear factor κ-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) were all obtained from Santa Cruz Biotechnology (Santa Cruz, CA, USA). Antibodies against extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), β-catenin, glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β), Akt, c-Jun NH(2)-terminal kinase (JNK), and cyclin D1, and anti-intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) antibody were produced by Cell Signaling Technology (Beverly, MA, USA).
