Abstract

Purpose : The purpose of the research is to analyze the efficacy of The New Grooved Hook during difficult strabismus surgeries. We aimed to find new techniques using the hook in certain eye muscle surgeries. Furthermore, it aimed to compare the effectivity to other strabismus surgery techniques and tools. The research conducted is purposed to analyze the impact and implications that The New Grooved Hook has made in strabismus surgery. Additionally, the research will investigate how and why The New Grooved Hook is better than other tools during a strabismus surgical procedure. Overall, research will focus on the potential of The New Grooved Hook and the capability of it, in and outside of strabismus surgery.

Methods : We analyzed the different techniques of strabismus surgery. We video-taped a strabismus surgery with The New Grooved Hook and compare how it is different than other techniques. We compared videos of different techniques performing strabismus surgery. With video evidence, we inspected the efficacy of The New Grooved Hook and analyze the pros and cons of the tool and technique used. We compared techniques and tools objectively and subjectively. Objectively, we measured safety, success rate, time, etc. As for subjective data, we used the videos and our personal judgments as qualitative and subjective data. Then, we used evidence to compare The New Grooved Hook to other tools and how it impacts and improves the overall surgery.

Results : After data was collected, we demonstrate how The New Grooved Hook has improved and changed the future for all strabismus surgeries. Furthermore, we analyzed the pros and cons of The New Grooved Hook, with respect to the surgical techniques and other replacement tools. Lastly, we analyzed the data by comparing time, safety, and other units of measurement to other techniques and tools. With the data analyzed, we drew conclusions proving why The New Grooved Hook is deemed a very valuable instrument not only subjectively, but also objectively.

Conclusions : To conclude, we elaborated on the future of surgery and how The New Grooved Hook improved the execution of strabismus surgery. We explained the complications with The New Grooved Hook and reiterated the strengths and weaknesses of this tool. Finally, we tried to invent possible solutions to the weaknesses of the hook and restated with reasons why The New Grooved Hook is deemed a very valuable instrument in eye strabismus surgery.
