With this issue of Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, we introduce a new section, Focus on Data. Data from research in vision science have several special aspects, including the need for appropriately displaying and analyzing data from 2 eyes from the same animal or patient and staging and severity scales that may need transformation for analysis, such as Snellen visual acuity scores. Articles in this series are intended for researchers who have had a basic statistics course, possibly years ago. Examples using data from vision research studies will be presented to guide selection of appropriate procedures in statistical software. Code for selected procedures will be included and the datasets used in some examples will be made available as supplemental files on the IOVS website.
Submission of articles will be primarily by invitation. Authors who would like to contribute an article to the series should contact one of the Editorial Board members for Focus on Data listed below.
