Abstract

Presentation Description : In this presentation I will describe the INSIGHT Health Data Research Hub for Eye Health, a bioresource for ophthalmic imaging data created in 2019 in the United Kingdom. The INSIGHT Hub uses routinely collected, patient-level UK National Health Service (NHS) electronic health record data, including images, and makes it research ready through curation and anonymisation. With support from the INSIGHT Hub, we have created the AlzEye study, a linkage of ophthalmic imaging data at Moorfields Eye Hospital with a national database of systemic disease (NHS Hospital Episode Statistics). By linking to the systemic data, there is an opportunity for discovery of novel ophthalmic biomarkers of systemic diseases ('oculomics'). I will describe the work to date on INSIGHT and the AlzEye study plus give a summary of future plans.

This abstract was presented at the 2023 ARVO Annual Meeting, held in New Orleans, LA, April 23-27, 2023.
