Abstract

Purpose : To evaluate the reproducibility of automated vessel density (VD) measurements of radial peripapillary complex (RPC VD), superficial vascular complex (SVC VD), deep vascular complex (DVC VD), parafoveal 300µ ring (FD-300 VD), and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area by AngioAnalytics software of FDA-approved Solix SD-OCT device (Figure 1).

Methods : Three AngioVue Retina (6.4x6.4mm, 512x512 density) and AngioVue Disc (6x6mm, 512x512 density) OCTA scans were prospectively acquired on 3xSolix devices to elicit 9 scans per eye from 30 Normal (N), 25 Glaucoma (G) and 28 Retina (R) eyes of qualifying subjects (one eye per subject) under IRB-approved protocol.
N group was distributed by age (21 to 91 years), G group by disease severity (mean visual field mean deviation (MD) range -13.84 dB to -0.72 dB), and R group included eyes with exudative (n=8) and non-exudative (n=9) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), proliferative and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR, n=2 and NPDR, n=6), adult vitelliform dystrophy (n=1) and retinitis pigmentosa (n=2).
Automatically generated VD and FAZ parameters were exported and analyzed for distribution and reproducibility.

Results : Mean values and reproducibility standard deviation (SD) and coefficient of variation (COV) of selected parameters are shown in Table 1A. RPC VD, SVC VD and DVC VD mean values (%) and reproducibility parameters ranges are shown in Table 1B.

Conclusions : In our sample population all evaluated parameters were highly reproducible in all study groups, with reproducibility SD not exceeding 4% for any of the vessel density parameters.
