Abstract
Presentation Description :
A process of ocular modeling to provide myopic eyes with a range of refractions will be provided. The models were determined from a biometric study including magnetic resonance imaging to determine retinal shape. The basic emmetropic eye contains a cornea with aspheric surfaces, a gradient index lens, and a bionic retina. It is converted into myopic models by altering the following parameters as linear functions of refraction: anterior cornea radius of cornea, vitreous chamber length, and retinal vertex radiii of curvature, and asphericity.
The models can be used to assess peripheral vision and central vision, with the latter corresponding to the eye rotating behind a correcting lens. Models of some recently developed lenses to slow myopia progression (e.g., Hoya Myosmart and Essilor lenses) will be placed in front of the myopic eyes, and the image quality and refractions determined.
