Abstract

Presentation Description : Although visual acuity is a key factor in an eye exam, a more comprehensive measure of visual function is contrast sensitivity, which demonstrates visual sensitivity at different contrasts and spatial frequency. Compared to acuity, contrast sensitivity has a better correlation with object identification, walking, driving, recognizing faces, and other daily life tasks. Contrast sensitivity deficits significantly affect overall quality of life. I will cover contrast sensitivity deficits in amblyopia patients and new technologies in measuring contrast sensitivity function. Challenges in measuring contrast sensitivity function and treating contrast sensitivity deficits in amblyopia patients will be discussed as well.

This abstract was presented at the 2024 ARVO Annual Meeting, held in Seattle, WA, May 5-9, 2024.
