Abstract

Presentation Description : The presentation will be divided in 4 main sections :
The first part depicts the state of the art of knowledge of the tear film. This description will highlight the understanding of the molecular and physical properties of this biofluid.
This will be followed by the available tools for molecular dissection and imaging description to understand the dynamics of tear film behaviours in the basal state as well as in the pathological state through its molecular and physical properties.
The 3rd part will focus on the available databases and potential biomarkers in ophthalmic disorders and beyond, and the interest they have in clinical practice.
The final will emphasize on the future direction to follow thanks to the multidisciplinary strategies by the combination of molecular, in silico and imaging approaches.

This abstract was presented at the 2024 ARVO Annual Meeting, held in Seattle, WA, May 5-9, 2024.
